1:1 Gong Psychotherapy Sessions

Why begin with the gong?

Many of us live very much in our heads. When we arrive for therapy feeling rushed, anxious, or overstimulated, it can take time to land and feel safe enough to explore what really matters. The gong offers a different starting point. The vibrations and sound create a grounding, sensory experience that can help:

  • settle the nervous system

  • soften physical tension

  • quiet mental noise

  • support a sense of safety and presence in the body

For some people, the gong brings deep rest. For others, images, emotions, or sensations arise. There is no right or wrong experience, only an invitation to notice what unfolds for you. Beginning in this way can make it easier to arrive in therapy feeling more connected, regulated, and open.

How the session flows

The first 60 minutes – Gong session
You’ll lie comfortably, fully clothed, on a sofa bed, supported by cushions, and warmed by blankets. I’ll play the gongs gently, allowing the sound to fill the space. Your role is simply to rest and listen. Nothing is expected of you.

The second 50 minutes – Therapy session
We then move into a therapy session together. This might include:

  • exploring anything that arose during the gong session

  • noticing bodily sensations, emotions, or thoughts

  • talking about something you’re currently navigating in your life

  • slowing things down and making sense of your experience

You don’t need to come with a clear agenda. We work with whatever feels most present for you in that moment.

Who this might be supportive for

This combined approach can be particularly helpful if you:

  • find it hard to settle or feel present at the start of therapy

  • feel overwhelmed, anxious, or disconnected from your body

  • are curious about somatic or body‑based ways of working

  • want a therapy experience that honours both mind and body

It can also be a nourishing way to deepen ongoing therapeutic work, offering space to slow down and listen more closely to yourself.

A gentle invitation

This offering is about creating space; a space to rest, to feel, to reflect, and to be met with care. If you’re drawn to a slower, more embodied way of working therapeutically, this may be a supportive place to begin. If you have any questions or would like to explore whether this feels right for you, you’re very welcome to get in touch.

This 1:1 offering brings together two practices I care deeply about: therapeutic gong sound and psychotherapy. The session is designed to support you to arrive fully, in your body and in yourself, before we turn towards reflection and exploration.

Each session lasts 110 minutes, beginning with a 60 minute individual gong session, followed by a 50 minute therapy session. The intention is to offer a slower, more embodied way into therapeutic work, where your nervous system is supported to settle and regulate before we begin to explore what’s present for you.

"I highly recommend Lydia and her wonderful gongs. You'll find a friendly welcome. The experience is so relaxing. I have been many times since finding her in early 2025 and look forward to each one. It is a chance to give myself an hour, maybe reset my mind in the peaceful stillness...or sometimes even a chance to meditate. I find the sessions really peaceful and restful. I highly recommend giving it a go...you might just fall in love with it like I did!"
